What is Alpha?
The Alpha Course gives everyone the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed and friendly environment. Alpha discusses the Christian faith in a context where no question about life or God is too simple, too tough or too ‘out there’ to be asked. Your thoughts matter. Your questions are relevant. Your life is valuable.
Who is Alpha For?
Alpha is for EVERYONE, from all ages and backgrounds of life. Over 19 million people worldwide have attended an Alpha Course since it first began over 25 years ago in London. Over 160,000 people in New Zealand have explored the meaning of life in an Alpha Course.
What can I expect?
Alpha starts each night with a two course meal together and a chance to get to know others. Then there is a short talk which looks at different aspects of the Christian faith. This is followed by a time for discussion in small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion and ask questions. People usually stay in the same small groups so they can get to know each other, continue discussions and deepen friendships. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.
What topics are discussed?
Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus Die? How can we have Faith? Why and how do I Pray? Why and how should I Read the Bible? How does God Guide us? How can I Resist Evil? Why and how should I tell Others? Does God Heal Today? What about the Church?
